Focus on forest and peatlands at COP26
Two hundred countries have agreed in Glasgow to combat deforestation and restore forests. Our colleague Jasmijn Sybenga has conducted scientific research into the history of woodlands in the north of Scotland. Those woodlands forests have now almost completely disappeared. Lessons can be drawn from this research for current and future woodland conservation management strategies.
At the Climate Summit, during sessions of the Global Peatland Pavilion, a poster can be seen physically and online explaining this topic. These sessions will take place from 1 to 12 November. Watch the video of the pavilion about the importance of peatlands for the climate here.
