Clean cooking stoves for Uganda and Kenya
The Dutch Enterprise Agency RVO has selected 12 project proposals from companies to improve access to renewable energy for poor and vulnerable groups in developing countries. Our cooperation partner African Clean Energy BV (ACE) is one of the companies that is selected for the SDG7 Results scheme with its clean cooking stoves for Uganda and Kenya.
ACE brings clean cooking stoves with mechanical ventilation to remote rural areas in Sub-Saharan Africa. These hybrid energy systems consist of a combination of PV and clean biofuel. In this SDG7 project, 46,000 households in Uganda and Kenya will benefit from clean energy for cooking.
Partners in Business South Africa
ACE is a partner in the Dutch consortium Partners in Business that aims to valorise residual flows of woody biomass in South Africa. The consortium wants to achieve this by setting up commercial value chains, in collaboration with South African parties, for the collection of residual flows and the production and distribution of wood pellets, amongst others used for cooking. Partners for Innovation coordinates this project. In addition, four other companies participate in this two-year project.
SDG7 Results aims to promote access to renewable energy in poor or remote areas in developing countries. Together they receive a maximum subsidy budget of 14.2 million euros. The projects often provide financing solutions for consumers. This will reach a much poorer part of the market than the selected companies normally focus on.
